Dr. Kari Stuntz grew up in Beltsville Maryland and is the oldest of four children. Growing up she had the opportunity to shadow at the dental practice of her uncle and became very interested in Dentistry. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology from the University of Maryland College Park in 2004. While in college she also met her future husband, Bob Stuntz, while they were both student volunteers in a Virology research laboratory on campus. Dr. Stuntz then graduated from the University of Maryland Dental School in 2008, where she received specialized training in caring for children and patients with special needs. She went on to complete a two-year residency in general dentistry at Wellspan York Hospital with additional training in advanced treatment planning, implant placement and restoration, the management of dental emergencies, and oral surgery.
After the completion of her training, Dr. Stuntz was offered and accepted a position as a faculty member at the Wellspan York Hospital General Practice Residency. For nine years in addition to managing the care for her own patients, she mentored and taught dental residents. Her special areas of teaching interest include the management of medical emergencies in the dental office and making dental treatment comfortable for pediatric patients. Dr. Stuntz maintains membership in the American Dental Association, Pennsylvania Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. She has extensive experience helping patients with a phobia of dental procedures feel comfortable and relaxed.
Dr. Stuntz and her husband Bob reside in York with their two children, Emmett and Conrad. They also have two rescue dogs, Bella and Chauncey. Dr. Stuntz loves to cook and also grows her own vegetables, herbs, and collects delicious eggs from her eight hens. In her spare time, she enjoys learning martial arts and weight training.
